Reader x Levi – Quickie!Hope

Tears streaked your cheeks and continued to come. You, (Y/n) (L/n), one of the greatest soldiers of the Survey Corps, crying. I’m pathetic, you thought. I couldn’t save them. It’s all my fault. They’re gone.
You buried your head in your arms and curled into a ball. Sobs hiccupped from your chest and you could feel your insides rattling with every wave of pain that washed over you.
It hurt.
It hurt so much.
You watched as Isabel, Furlan, Marco, Petra, Eld, and so many others die right in front of you. The best that you could offer them was a shrill of disgusted surprise when you saw their dull, glass eyes staring back at you.
An arm wrapped around you and held you tightly. “You finally cracked, didn’t you brat?”
You sniffled and nodded. “I-Its just too muc-ch,” you stuttered. “Why did they have to die Levi? They’d live so long and then not pay attention once…” You began to cry once more.
Levi pulled you into his lap and hugged you tightly; an action he rarely did. “They knew what they where doing. They did it with purpose. So we could defeat the Titans once and for all. You can’t blame yourself, (Y/n).”
You trembled as you replied, “They were my responsibility – my squad – and I should have paid more attention.”
Levi glared at you. “(Y/n) listen to me. Did you drive your blade through their hearts?”
You shook your head no.
“Did you tell them to have themselves fucking killed by Titans?”
No.
“You did send them towards war, but they signed up for that shit. They knew the cost and the possibility they wouldn’t make it. Enough blaming yourself, brat.”
You looked up at him, tears covering your eyes.
He leaned down and tipped your chin up to kiss you gently. “Try to think of the good things that have come out of their sacrifice,” he whispered, taking your hand and standing up.
Levi began to lead you through the rooms. “We won (Y/n). We won. Our friends lived. We have a house together. We’re married.” You slowly began to smile as you stood outside a door with painted details.
You pushed the door open and sauntered to the small bed in the middle of the room. You picked up the small, raven-haired girl from her crib and held her.
“And we’ve brought a beautiful baby girl into the world. The next generation. A generation that will live to go explore the world and learn more than we ever knew. Hope will be a great leader.”
You smiled fully and sniffled.
This is why you lived.
To remember those who died.
To celebrate those who lived.
Your friends.
Your husband.
